“I came into Tarzana Treatment Center from … on April 23, 2007. I have learned to stay clean and learned to get along with people on the outside, as well with my Tarzana family here, at Tarzana. I have learned all about “NA” “AA” “CA” and about the 12 step program and how to work them into my everyday life! I have learned to stay away from people, that are not trying to stay clean and that will get in the way of my recovery, and I have also learned to stay away from slippery places, and I also learned to spot all my triggers, and to back away from them! And I have also learned, how to find, a job from my life skills group, it has shown me all kinds of ways … to do the right thing for a interview and a lot more.”
“For me, as a Jew, this time between the New Year and the Day of Atonement is one of reflection. I want to thank you for your care and kindness towards me this past year. I feel tremendously fortunate and grateful that you have allowed me to participate in the program that has made such a wonderful improvement in the quality of my life. I send you my best wishes for a happy and healthy New Year. Sincerely, A.S.”
“Being at Tarzana Treatment Center has been positive for … me in numerous ways. Being here has allowed me to become stable. When I say stable I mean medically. I’ve gained and built an awesome support system. I’ve been given and shown direction, since I’ve been at TTC, I’ve gained new tools by being educated in the groups. I’ve learned life skills, such as how to deal with all types of people’s personalities. While at TTC I’ve been able to forgive myself. I’ve also learned how to deal with my emotions. I think talking with … I’ve also had a spiritual awakening experience.”
“Being an addict for some of 30 years and still haven’t gotten it right I had to decide how I could straighten out my life … so I put myself here at Tarzana. The time that I’ve been here has been a good experience for anyone who is looking to get a start. I’m glad that I made the decision to come here I know already by structure of this program that your can not lose. I feel that my life is changing already and I owe it to Tarzana for my start in life. Thank you, R.N.”
“During the time that I’ve been in here in Tarzana Treatment Center I have learned so so so many things that I wouldn’t have learned or realized if I haven’t come here. One of the things I learned was how to deal with my emotion on the daily basis and that I’m always going to have some good days and some bad days and when I have a bad day that could cause me to relapse but that’s why I have a higher power and a sponsor to help me threw my bad days also my counselor … helps me out. When I’m having a good day I have to be able to control myself because if I don’t and I’m having too much fun, that could cause me too pick-up and use too. That’s why I have a sponsor, a higher power and my counselor to advise me or to talk too. This place made me want to stay clean and sober it has really change my way of thinking before when I was using all I ever thought about was drugs, sex and fun. Now I think education job and living a clean life I could write a whole book about what I learned but this is one of my favorite things that I remind myself constantly to stay clean and sober so I could have a nice education and a nice job.”
“From the moment I stepped into the front office on July 24, 2007. I was treated in a patient decent manner. I especially remember how kind and courteous … the driver … was … The beds are clean & comfortable and I’ve never feel threatened by any staff, outsider or client – it is safe here. My questions get answered and I’ve been provided weekly therapy and it is providing positive personal growth. I’ve been reprimanded for my improper language and behavior in a decent manner and it has proved to be a positive growth opportunity for me… There is genuine love and concern in all staff members for the well being of each and every client.”
