Inpatient Psychiatric Stabilization
The inpatient mental health unit at Tarzana Treatment Centers is a licensed acute psychiatric hospital. This level of care is suitable for patients needing acute psychiatric stabilization that cannot be managed on an outpatient basis. The goal of this approach is to reduce risk factors and improve safety. We want each patient’s healing process to begin without an imminent threat of regression or physical danger. It is important to note that the program only accepts patients who want to be voluntarily admitted.
The inpatient mental health unit also provides medical detoxification for patients who have co-occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders or substance-induced psychosis. We treat individuals who are not yet stable enough for outpatient care after an involuntary hold in a psychiatric hospital. The program includes ongoing medication monitoring and management, psychotherapy, supportive counseling, and behavioral coping strategies. We combine person-centered support with evidence-based practices to promote long-term stabilization.
The goal of inpatient care and psychiatric stabilization is to make the transition to residential treatment and outpatient services.
