Charity Care and Financial Assistance Policy
The Charity Care and Financial Assistance Policy of Tarzana Treatment Centers, Inc. (TTC) reflects the core values and best practices of the nonprofit organization. As a whole-person services provider of integrated programs of primary medical and behavioral healthcare, TTC focuses on equality and access. Thus, we do our best to provide fair and comprehensive healthcare service options to underserved populations and communities. As a direct result, the TTC Charity Care and Financial Assistance Policy officially represents these institutional efforts.
Keeping in line with state regulations, the purpose of this policy is to ensure a consistent and uniform method among all TTC facilities for compliance with the California “Voluntary Principles and Guidelines on Billing and Collection Practices for Services Provided to Low-income Uninsured Patients.” Moreover, it is the intent of this policy to comply with all federal and local regulations as well. If any federal, state, or local regulation, current or future, conflicts with this policy, the regulation will supersede the current policy, and changes will be instituted.
The TTC Mission and Financial Responsibilities
Highlighting the mission of TTC to be a universal resource in our representative communities, this policy reflects a commitment to provide financial assistance to patients who cannot pay for part or all the care they receive. At the same time, this institutional policy balances a patient’s need for financial assistance with TTC’s broader fiscal responsibilities.
Therefore, it is essential to note that financial assistance provided by TTC is not a substitute for personal responsibility. All patients are expected to contribute to the cost of their care, based upon their individual ability to pay. Indeed, such contributions are a part of a patient’s greater recovery plan that includes the acceptance of personal responsibility.
Ongoing Commitment of TTC to Provide Integrated Healthcare Services
At the same time, wanting to help and support those in need, TTC contracts with all levels of government to provide large variety of substance abuse, mental health, HIV/AIDS, primary care and other health and housing related services to the uninsured, low income and indigent members of our communities. Hence, the Charity Case and Financial Assistance Policy remains consistent with TTC’s commitment to reach out and service those most in need.
