Declining Overdoses Through Action
From coast to coast there are stories about declines in opioid overdoses and fatalities. We still have a lot of work to do, but this is good news.
Anne Arundel County in Maryland is reporting a 2% decline in overdoses and 27% in fatalities. The drop is credited to actions that are being taken across the country including awareness campaigns, strict prescribing guidelines for painkillers, and broad availability of Naloxone.

“It’s giving us some hope, it’s giving our community hope, and I think its giving family members and loved ones of people who are addicted hope,” said Sgt. Jacklyn Davis, of the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
California has taken the same steps along with making a wider variety of treatment options available and more affordable (if not no cost).
