Rainbow Fentanyl Pills A Common Occurrence in Orange County Drug Busts
As the nationwide opioid crisis continues, rainbow fentanyl pills are becoming more common in Southern California. In a recent drug bust in Orange County, OC Sheriff Investigators discover more than 15,000 rainbow fentanyl pills. Along with the multi-colored pills, two kilograms of fentanyl powder and ten pounds of methamphetamine make the drug bust one of the largest in recent SoCal history. Indeed, the biker gangs and Mexican drug cartels are prioritizing the combo dealing of fentanyl and crystal meth.
As a result of these drugs taking over the party scene, cases of substance use disorders (SUD) are sharply on the rise. Particularly among vulnerable young people, drug abuse is both familiar and accessible. As a provider of SUD Treatment Services and Medications for Addiction Treatment, Tarzana Treatment Centers (TTC) is on the front lines. Indeed, our clinical team of recovery professionals sees the need for treatment services continuing to rise in 2023.
Rainbow Fentanyl Pills and Substance Use Disorders
Martin Estrada, the U.S. attorney for the Central District of California, announces a significant policy shift. At the beginning of his press conference, Martin Estrada points out that “Fentanyl poisoning is now the number one source of death for people between 18 and 45.” Given such grim statistics, different parts of Southern California must team up to combat the opioid crisis. Such an effort includes fighting against the spread of the candy-like rainbow fentanyl pills.
Therefore, Estrada announces that Southern California is participating in the Central California awareness campaign against rainbow fentanyl pills. Titled “Death in Disguise,” the campaign hopes to raise awareness among young people about the dangers of fentanyl abuse. As Martin Estrada explains, “We need this message to be circulated widely. Simply spreading this message will educate and will save lives.”
