SBIRT Services
SBIRT services are a critical assessment tool used by Tarzana Treatment Centers (TTC). Standing for Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment, SBIRT is now an essential and primary aspect of healthcare models nationwide. This new model expands the continuum of care, delivering early intervention and treatment services for individuals at risk and those who already suffer from substance use disorders (SUDs).
The Importance of SBIRT Services
As described by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, “SBIRT is a comprehensive, integrated, public health approach to the delivery of early intervention and treatment services for persons with substance use disorders, as well as those who are at risk of developing these disorders.”
The goal of SBIRT is to save lives by catching SUDs as early as possible. Thus, TTC integrates SBIRT assessments into its service offerings.
By extensively training TTC staff in the administration of SBIRT assessments, all patients receive this basic and often lifesaving assessment. From Primary Care to Mental Health, the integration of SBIRT happens at all levels of care at TTC. Such integration allows for screenings to take place in situations where they might not have occurred in the past.
