Substance Use Disorder Treatment
Integrated Healthcare
Tarzana Treatment Centers treats addictions to all habit-forming substances. Whether your addiction is to alcohol, heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, or prescription drugs including Oxycontin, Vicodin, Xanax, or Ambien, we can help. Our commitment to Integrated Healthcare means that you can focus on recovering from your addiction without the additional stress of seeking outside help for medical care or mental health treatment.
Medical Detoxification
Alcohol, opiate, opioid, and benzodiazepine withdrawal symptoms can be severe without medical detoxification. We perform systematic withdrawal by tapering doses of medication, allowing for safe withdrawal from whichever substance dependence you suffer. Our inpatient medical detoxification unit eases the discomfort of withdrawal for over 2,400 patients per year. Many of these patients continue on to our residential or outpatient alcohol and drug treatment programs.
Medical Care
A full medical staff is on hand to monitor your needs from the moment you enter treatment until the day you are ready to leave and start a new life in recovery. The initial medical assessment determines your need for detoxification from substances. A Health and Physical assessment then tells us if you require additional medical attention beyond chemical dependence. During your treatment, you will not find it necessary to seek outside medical assistance on common ailments.
Mental Health Care
A psychological assessment that is taken at the start of your treatment aids with mental health issues that you may have been unaware of prior to entering treatment. Since we are fully staffed with mental health professionals, you can rest assured that you can continue therapy and medications without leaving addiction treatment.
Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counseling
We staff certified addiction counselors in all of our addiction treatment programs, including drug and alcohol detox units. Alcoholism and addiction are diseases of the mind and body. Counselors focus on addiction relapse triggers and teach you how to accept and avoid them. Family involvement in alcohol and drug treatment is encouraged in order to heal wounds and create a healthy home environment for recovery. Counselors facilitate multi-family group meetings and support groups for family members, and work towards that goal. Finally, counselors make a point of solidifying a foundation in recovery that will help you live a long and fulfilling life in recovery from alcoholism and addiction.
Individual and Group Therapy
Therapy in addiction treatment has two components, individual therapy and group therapy. Individual therapy in alcohol and drug treatment allows for one-on-one sessions where a patient can discuss issues privately with a counselor. They also afford counselors the opportunity to gain insight into relapse triggers for that patient and encourage discussion in groups. In group therapy, several patients join to discuss issues and work together to find answers. Patients help each other by sharing their experience and strength, diminishing that feeling of “going it alone” and gathering solutions to common problems.
Education
Before alcohol and drug treatment can begin, patients need to be aware of the disease they are dealing with and how it has affected their lives. Alcohol and drug education is an important component of alcohol and drug treatment at Tarzana Treatment Centers. Patients learn about alcohol and drug effects on them physically, mentally, and emotionally. Showing patients the road they travelled to alcoholism and drug addiction, and the road ahead to recovery, provides a map to follow for recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction.
Recreational Therapy
Positive leisure activities need to be relearned by those who have become accustomed to negative or stagnant lifestyles. Recreational therapy in alcohol and drug treatment reintroduces patients to the concept of fun and creativity without negative consequences. Also, the positive aspects of teamwork and group activities give patients real life experiences on how positive behavior can prevent relapses.
