Recovery Support Services
Recovery Support Services, sometimes referred to as ‘aftercare’ are available to patients who leave formal treatment, whether they complete successfully or not. The aim of Recovery Support is to help support and maintain gains made while in treatment, to support those who may need to reengage in treatment and continue developing self-management skills. Recovery support includes mutual help groups like AA and NA, support to other needed services, like social services, primary medical care, relapse prevention and peer emotion support in times of need. For most patients, a substance use disorder is a chronic disease that requires development of skills that are applied throughout the rest of one’s life.
Patients are assessed on multiple dimensions including relapse potential, readiness for self-management, self-management skills, and recovery environment. Topics covered include:
- Medications for addiction treatment
- Exercise, nutrition, sleep
- Self-monitoring
- Managing physical and emotional pain
- Meditation and Mindfulness
- Advanced relapse prevention techniques
- Advanced social and relationship skills
Services are provided in-person and via telephone / telehealth.
