Tarzana Treatment Centers Commemorates Black History Month 2024
February is Black History Month 2024, and Tarzana Treatment Centers (TTC) emphasizes the significant role of African Americans in the United States. Despite their contributions, generations of African Americans struggled with adversity and prejudice. Moreover, the goal of each generation is to achieve full citizenship and equality in American society. As a nonprofit healthcare organization providing compassionate and professional services, TTC wholeheartedly supports and believes in this ongoing mission. Thus, we observe the themes and goals of this national observation day.
In a statement on the TTC website entitled “TTC Stands for Racial Justice and Equity,” TTC supports the objectives of Black History Month 2024. Indeed, the page expresses that “We pledge to work collaboratively with staff to be an anti-racist employer by taking appropriate opportunities to address racial biases or inequalities in any form and to fully embrace diversity and inclusion. We pledge to seek to reflect diversity at every level of our organization, including within our recruitment practices, leadership, and community partnerships.”
2024 Black History Month and Raising Awareness
As a theme this year, Black History Month is about cultural expressions. Indeed, a diverse array of federal agencies come together to help make this happen. Thus, efforts are being made nationwide to raise awareness. With a focus on such outreach, the federal agencies taking part in promoting the agenda of cultural expressions include:
- The Library of Congress
- National Archives and Records Administration
- Smithsonian Institution
- National Gallery of Art
- United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
- National Endowment for the Humanities
- National Park Service
According to the 2024 Black History Month website, the purpose of this focus is as follows:
“Culture shapes lives. It’s in the food people eat, the languages they speak, the art they create, and many other ways they express themselves. These traditions reflect the history and creative spirit of African American and other cultures of the African diaspora. Cultural Expressions is a circular, experiential, introductory space to African American and African diaspora culture.”
Education and Expression = Black History Month 2024
Hence, by educating the country about the cultural impact of African Americans, barriers are broken down by raising awareness. Indeed, on a microcosmic level, TTC is making the same efforts. For example, during Black History Month, TTC offers employees a free luncheon recognizing African Americans’ societal achievements and cultural efforts.
At the same time, TTC recognizes the need for affordable healthcare services for the African American community. If you or a loved one needs help, please do not hesitate to contact us today. After all, recovery from mental health and substance use disorders is the beginning of true personal freedom.
