Tennessee Advisory for Hep C
Tennessee has released a Public Health Advisory for Hep C. You may think that doesn’t have an effect out here in California, but that isn’t necessarily so. When people travel from Tennessee to California, they don’t leave Hep C at home, and there are still citizens in this state that are have Hep C but don’t know it. A story about the Advisory was posted on the WCBY website.
We’re in the middle of the Summer vacation season, and a lot of Hep C’s favorite modes of transmission are at their peak. Tourists from all over the world are on the West Coast to visit amusement parks, beaches, campgrounds, along with other attractions. This is not to say that you will catch Hep C from just standing in line with others that have the disease, The point is that Hep C travels and you should be cautious when it comes to very close and sustained contact. As always, unprotected sex and the sharing of needles are not advised.
We take every opportunity to suggest that you get tested for Hep C if you never have. Especially if you’re a Baby Boomer, engage in unsafe sex, or are an IV drug user. We’ve posted a lot of information on the subject, which you can find by entering “Hep C” or “hepatitis” in the Search box above.
