Youth SUD Treatment in Greater Demand
Although teen substance use disorders increased during the pandemic, youth SUD treatment options decreased as programs closed due to COVID. Tarzana Treatment Centers (TTC) has remained open during COVID and continues to be an affordable, high qualitative youth SUD treatment provider. TTC consistently helps youth in crisis successfully recover.
Accredited by The Joint Commission, Tarzana Treatment Centers offers a full continuum of affordable services. Our youth SUD treatment options meet the needs of youth (ages 12 to 17), young adults (ages 18 to23), and their families. This includes a youth substance use disorder (SUD) residential program that treats youth, ages 12 to 17, who need SUD or Co-Occurring Disorders treatment. The Critical Role of Youth SUD Treatment
Our goal is to provide professional guidance that helps youth realize their potential and live productive lives. Highlighting this focus, our residential, outpatient, and telehealth services include treatment for SUD, mental health, co-occurring disorders, primary medical care, case management, medical detox, medications for addiction treatment (MAT), wellness groups, peer support, and prevention education.
Each of TTC’s youth programs encourages family involvement, when appropriate. The program is voluntary, and as such, participating youth must be willing to participate. The treatment team helps youth develop their strengths, learning how to manage their day-to-day lives, and understanding the logical consequences of their behaviors.
Our comprehensive assessments of youth examine psychological challenges, failure to launch, mood disorders, anxiety issues, depression, and childhood trauma. We support our youth by offering early interventions to prevent the long-term negative consequences of drug misuse, poor academic performance, and the pressures of adolescence.
Overall, TTC’s team has the experience and expertise your teen needs to get back on track.

With a highly trained team of youth specialists, TTC is committed to helping youth recover from difficulties by developing inner strength. We teach recovery strategies that work in practice. In the program, youth develop proper structure and find a deeper connection through self-exploration and honest expression. Therefore, the treatment plan for each young person in the TTC Youth Services Program is individualized based on a comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessment.
Family Support and Youth SUD Treatment
We believe strongly in the importance of family involvement, which is encouraged throughout all phases of treatment. As part of our integrated youth services, families are involved in efforts to improve healthy boundaries and provide therapeutic support. Additionally, we strengthen parental leadership by highlighting the underlying causes of dysfunctional family interactions.
Given the importance of family support, youth SUD treatment requires the participation of a parent or guardian in weekly family sessions. These sessions are held in-person or using the latest telehealth innovations by computer or smartphone.
The goal of youth SUD treatment is to provide teens with the skills needed to remain drug and alcohol free and to thrive in a less restrictive environment upon discharge. The treatment team believes in youth empowerment and seeks to actively engage youth in their care. Thus, we offer both traditional and innovative treatment modalities.
Moreover, special care is taken to ensure that youth in both outpatient and residential settings have access to all the services they need to become better versions of themselves. These evidence-based treatments enable youth not only to recover, but to thrive in the present and the future.
Youth SUD Treatment Residential Program Structure
The youth SUD treatment residential program equals a level of care that removes youth from unproductive lifestyles and negative habitual patterns. Instead, it integrates them into a drug-free, therapeutic environment 24 hours a day, seven days a week. While in residential treatment, youth learn coping skills to live a life free of substance misuse while being treated for any co-occurring disorders. Thus, the goal of residential treatment is to stabilize an individual, providing skills that will allow them to make a successful transition back to their external lives.
Therefore, the program uses a level system designed to provide a basis for gaining privileges while accepting responsibility for behavior. Youth earn points each day based on behavior and individual achievement. Privileges are provided for each level. To honor a youth’s achievement, every individual who successfully completes the program experiences graduation.
Indeed, group counseling helps youth learn appropriate ways to communicate, reflect, and resolve conflict in a safe and non-threatening environment. Moreover, youth participate in treatment, social, recreational, and educational activities based on a posted program schedule. Each patient has weekly individual sessions with their Counselor. Thus, the purpose of these sessions is assessment, treatment planning, and meeting the goals of the treatment plan.
Moreover, TTC’s on-site special education school is fully accredited. Full-time school attendance is available for any youth currently receiving residential SUD treatment from TTC. Following a traditional schedule, youth participate in the school program from Monday to Friday and can earn transferable credits in core academic subjects such as English, Math, and Social Science. Special Education Teachers are on-site for these classes.
Youth SUD Treatment for Outpatient Services + IOP
Designed for youth needing less intensive treatment, the TTC Outpatient Program offers treatment two to three days per week. Hence, TTC’s Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program (IOP) is ideal for youth who are functioning well enough to remain in school and at home yet need more comprehensive treatment or follow-up to live in a residential setting. Thus, youth in this program attend 3 hours per day for three to four days per week.
Moreover, the Day Treatment program at TTC provides youth with intensive treatment five days a week. This program is ideal for youth who are having trouble at school or being disruptive at home. Moreover, the Day Treatment program supports youth who are transitioning back to home and school from residential treatment, sober living, or other structured living facilities. Each patient attends our on-site Accredited School while receiving additional support. Moreover, they attend regular group, individual, and family counseling sessions.
Medical Detoxification + MAT Services
When appropriate in youth SUD treatment, medical detoxification services can save a young person’s life. Hence, residential and outpatient settings that safely detoxify the patient from substances, under medical supervision, offer this level of care. Hence, detoxification includes medical treatment, participation in therapeutic activities, individual and group therapy, psychiatric services, an introduction to the 12-Steps, and aftercare planning for treatment once detox is completed.
In cases of SUD treatment, teens need help with withdrawal symptoms. Thus, TTC applies medications for addiction treatment (MAT) services to help youth recover. MAT services entail the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to offer an integrated approach to the treatment of SUD. TTC recognizes the value of MAT as an effective treatment for Opioid Use Disorder and Alcohol Use Disorder.
The Benefits of Youth SUD Treatment Services
Indeed, the ultimate goal of youth SUD treatment services is to benefit your kids. To help parents with affordability, TTC is in-network with most private health insurance plans. We are a preferred provider for many managed care companies, medical groups, HMOs, and PPOs.
